Real Madrid have shown an excellent eye in recent years when it comes to signing young Brazilian talents and then developing them into first-team players at Santiago Bernabeu. Vinicius Jr and Rodrgyo both arrived as teenagers and faced their early struggles in the Spanish capital. The club showed patience with them though and are reaping the rewards now, as both are starters in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
Not too long ago, they agreed a deal to sign Endrick in 2024 as well. The Brazilian youngster has earned comparisons with the great Ronaldo Nazario. Thus, it would be safe to say expectations are high.
There is another striker that Real Madrid are being linked with an interest in. But in this case, it looks like Chelsea are closing in on his signature.
As reported by ge.globo, Chelsea have submitted a bid to sign Deivid Washington. It is an offer of a €15 million initial fee plus bonuses which could raise it to €20 million in total. The Brazilian striker has also been on the radar of clubs like Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Santos are set to accept the offer.
Chelsea close to signing €20 million Real Madrid target
Considering the level of interest in his signature, it is clear that Washington is a top prospect. Despite of Real Madrid’s rumoured interest, he seems to be closing in on a move to Chelsea.
Chelsea have implemented a similar transfer policy to that of Real Madrid in recent times. They have signed some highly-rated Brazilian talents too. Andrey Santos and Angelo impressed in pre-season. And it looks like they are set to add Washington to the mix.
Washington has played only a handful of games at the senior level for Santos and scored a couple of goals. But he seems to have impressed with his performances
