Chelsea claim that Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of 22-year-old Blues player

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of faith in Armando Broja.

That is according to a report from GiveMeSport.

Armando Broja, who’s had a stop-start season so far, is a talented youngster to come from the club’s academy at Cobham.

The 22-year-old striker has made just six appearances across all competitions this campaign, with Nicolas Jackson in pole position as the main No 9 right now. Will that still be the case on Sunday afternoon at home to Brighton, though?

Huge belief at Chelsea

GMS claims that sources around Cobham suggest Mauricio Pochettino really likes Broja for his general style and quality.

It is understood that the Blues boss actually thinks he can bring the XI a different edge in the coming weeks.

Apparently, the Albania international will get more opportunities to start in some games over the festive period.

Incidentally, the club play eight games, seven in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup, across December.

Armando Broja has the manager’s backing

It’s a real boost for any player to know you’ve got the manager’s support, even if you’re spending quite a bit of time on the bench.

We’re still waiting to see the very best of Broja because of some very bad luck with injuries, but it would be great to see him get an extended run of matches to see if he’s good enough to cement a spot in the line-up. There’s certainly a lot to admire about him when you check out the physical strengths at the top end of the pitch.

The Express recently claimed that Broja is ‘determined’ to stay at Chelsea beyond January and fight for his position. It’s the kind of attitude we love to hear about from a young player.
