Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are now actively trying to sign Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun, according to a report.
90min have reported that Chelsea are interested in signing Folarin Balogun from London and Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Chelsea have enquired about a possible deal for Arsenal and USA international striker Balogun.
The Blues have made contact with the representatives of Balogun and have asked if he would be interested in a possible transfer to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Chelsea have also reached out to Arsenal about the transfer fee needed to get a deal done for the 22-year-old USA international, according to the report.
90min has claimed that Arsenal want £50 million to sell Balogun.
Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey rates Balogun highly, and he told The Sun in June that the striker is “a very exciting player” and is “good enough for the Premier League”.
Chelsea should not pay £50 million for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun
In our view, Chelsea should not pay £50 million to Arsenal to sign Folarin Balogun in the summer transfer window.
We do not think that Balogun is worth £50 million.
Now, of course, we can understand why Arsenal would want £50 million for the 22-year-old.
After all, the USA international was superb during his loan spell in France last season and banged in the goals for fun.
During his loan spell at Reims last season, the American star scored 21 goals and gave two assists in 34 Ligue 1 starts.
Arsenal are clearly trying to capitalise on that success.
But, Chelsea should not ignore that Balogun has had just one good season, and that too in Ligue 1.

Paying £50 million for a 22-year-old who could not get into the Arsenal first team would be a mistake from Chelsea.
