Ruben Neves, who is reportedly a target for Liverpool, has been praised by Barcelona boss Xavi as a “very good player.”

As he gets ready to leave Wolves, Neves has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer. Though not the only team rumored to be interested in the 26-year-old is the Reds. Barcelona has also been mooted as a potential destination for him.

Through the writer Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Xavi commented on those links and praised Neves while arguing that Barca should be focusing on other, more important targets.

“Well, he plays well. Would he adjust to our mannerisms? We shall see. The legend of Spain says, “We have various names: plan A, plan B, and plan C.

Neves may now need to reconsider since he was previously said to favor moving to Barcelona.

Neves is undoubtedly a very talented player, there is no doubting it. He has earned his stripes at Wolves and is now 26 years old. He appears to be fully prepared to transfer to a great squad.

But does Liverpool need him? Not for us. We cannot observe it.

The Reds’ midfield last season lacked physicality, legs, and the capacity to press effectively as a team.

Neves only really checks the final of those categories in our opinion. He is much more of a passing midfielder who can play a key role from deep and score fantastic goals. He resembles Thiago Alcantara in terms of Liverpool, but is bigger and not quite as talented.

Due to his advanced age and potential £44 million price tag, he may not be exactly what Jurgen Klopp is seeking for in this transfer window.

From Barca’s point of view, Xavi also confirmed that their main priority in the market is a replacement for Sergio Busquets.

Neves isn’t that, either So, although he appears keen to push himself onto the next level, the Portugal international may not have all that many suitors. With so many midfield players on the market this summer, Neves is in danger of being the odd man out.
