As momentum increases, Marc Marquez feels a lot of “support from Ducati.”
Marc Marquez had a fantastic race on Sunday in the Spanish MotoGP at Jerez, coming in second behind Francesco Bagnaia after a thrilling battle for the lead.
After losing time early, Marquez caught up to the two-time MotoGP champion and launched two separate attacks at turn nine.
But Marquez does not want to worry about winning the championship, even after having his finest weekend on the Ducati in terms of performance, which did not hurt his chances of getting into the factory Ducati team in 2025.
“It’s premature. Although I don’t mind winning the championship, I know there will be certain racetracks where I will have a lot of difficulty, so it is too soon to consider that,” stated Marquez.
But wait a minute. We must continue, and I believe that while some of my riding style’s strong elements are weaker on this bike, the weaker ones are now slightly stronger.
This is a topic that will be crucial in the exam. Even when it gets really tough during race weekend, we still need to learn a few things about bike balance.
“I shall exert all of my effort, and we have the tools at our disposal. However, I really appreciate Gresini and Ducati’s backing, which is really helpful.
Since joining Ducati, Marquez has been outstanding. Despite crashes in Jerez and COTA, which were both caused by peculiar circumstances, the eight-time world champion is undoubtedly moving closer to his first victory with the Italian manufacturer.
His seeming inherent speed—which is not the result of overriding, as at Honda—is among the factors contributing to this.
Marquez went on, “In my opinion, the Ducati is the bike that is the most comprehensive in every circuit.” Naturally, other brands will show up on some circuits, but for some reason, once you realize the bike’s potential and know how to exploit it, lap time arrives.
“The lap time just appears once you step outside. Neither I nor you do anything really noteworthy.
I used to occasionally battle with the front or both of my tires, but right now on this bike, I’m smooth and the lap
It’s almost time.
“I feel more and more confident because of this. The fact that I haven’t had a crash due to overriding is a plus for me.
I wrecked yesterday [Saturday], although it was on a damp patch. It hasn’t yet happened to override and lose the front or the back. I still have enough time to figure out where the boundary is.
Bagnaia established a new fastest lap early in the race to open up a small lead, and Marquez was unable to launch a late assault despite having two chances to take the lead during the grand prix.
In response to the question of whether he was too cautious at first, Marquez said, “I attacked early but when I arrived to him I attacked.” However, when he pushed and finished in 37.4 seconds, I slightly lost ground and during the final two laps, I put a lot of stress on the front tire.
“The two laps prior to the assault on Pecco. I gave up a little after that since I was having a lot of front locking, but I tried again on the final lap since I was riding
I wasn’t overriding; I was just pushing. He did a great job racing, but on the final lap I told myself that I would maintain my usual pace and catch him if he made a mistake.
“The tire was prepared for the first overtake at turn nine, which resulted in the victory.”
But it was hard for me to stop well in the braking zones when I completed two more laps behind him.
