ANNOUNCED: WPBSA QUALIFIERS FOR THE CAZOO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2024

The 16 amateur players who have secured their spots at the 2024 Cazoo World Snooker Championship in Sheffield in April are delighted to have their qualifications confirmed by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) and World Snooker Tour.

To find out who will play at the Crucible Theatre among the world’s best 16 players, the qualifying rounds will be held from April 8–17 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Aside from the professionals ranked outside of the top 16, 16 elite amateur players who qualified through their performance at reputable international events this season will be joining the field. These players will be the 2023 Q School Order of Merit top-ups and all professionals ranked outside of the top 16.

These include the World Snooker Federation Championship winners from Albania, the World Women’s Snooker Championship winner who will compete in China next week, and the World Pool Billiard Association Q Tour Global, which has been expanded for this season.

“We are excited to be able to announce another formidable line-up of WPBSA qualifiers who will join the field for this year’s professional World Snooker Championship in Sheffield,” stated Jason Ferguson, Chairman of the WPBSA.

“Our qualifiers from last year, including Liam Davies, Stan Moody, Iulian Boiko, and many others, had incredible victories. I’m confident that this year’s players will leave their mark on our most recognizable tournament.”

Since our renowned WPBSA Group paths around the globe continue to develop and produce premier players for the World Snooker Tour, amateur snooker is only growing stronger. Ka Wai Cheung of Hong Kong, China, and Bulcsú Révész of Hungary put on incredible performances just last month at the WSF Championship in Albania to earn spots on the Tour for the first time. Michael Holt also secured his return after a two-year break after winning the UK/Europe WPBSA Q Tour.

“To inspire and reward is the vision of the WPBSA. Snooker is currently a sport where a player may progress from amateur status to world champion and international sports star in a matter of months because to the creation of global pathways. There are opportunities available.

the sole standard is accomplishment.

“As our 16 players are only four victories away from a spot at the storied Crucible Theatre in April, I would like to wish them all the best in Sheffield!”
