Amazing Allen return dazzles Selby in Riyadh

A tight last frame marked by errors and fouls saw Allen come back from behind once more, assisted by an unlucky green before his incredible game-winning shot.

He commented on Eurosport, “I actually thought the white was going to drop in.” It was a very simple shot to flick off the black, but I decided to go for it anyhow. I would be happy as long as I obtained a really nice white.”

After falling to world champion Luca Brecel 4-1 in his quarterfinal round, Ali Carter looked unhappy.

Carter’s night fell apart after a late missed brown that he attributed to a scoreboard error, even though it appeared that he was on track to tie the game at 2-2.

“I’m clearing up, I want to get on with it and the scorer’s got the score wrong,” he stated. “Believing I can play anything I want, I’ve stunned up the table.

I’m suddenly wondering, “Have I miscalculated?” and I’ve been utterly thrown off rhythm by it.

“I reasoned that in order to draw, I needed to pot the brown. I’m not sure how it happened, but as I was staring at the blue, the referee announced that I was on 41 and 22 behind, or something like that. I was thrown entirely off by it.”

Carter was displeased as well with the four-hour delay following Selby and Allen’s lengthy contest before his own match began.

Judd Trump overcame adversity to defeat Shaun Murphy 4-3. Murphy had jumped out to a 2-0 lead with breaks of 126 and 105 in the first two games, but Trump survived a challenging third frame to tie the match.

it in the fourth with a 75-break.

After taking a commanding lead in the sixth frame, Murphy seemed to be headed for the final four. However, he clipped a red and gave Trump an opportunity to come back, which he successfully grasped with a break of 69 before controlling the next frame.
