After the Celtics win, Jrue Holiday sends a clear message.

They fell to the Atlanta Hawks again in their subsequent meeting, ending a nine-game winning streak that had begun when they blew a 29-point lead.

Then, they had a poor start against the New Orleans Pelicans, but despite trailing for the majority of the second half, they managed to rally and win.

In light of this, star point guard for the Celtics Jrue Holiday acknowledged that occasionally you have to take a blow to the lips in order to respond (via Celtics on NBC Sports Boston)

Holiday stated, “I believe that sometimes you need to take a blow to the mouth.”

Naturally, a team that has already guaranteed a postseason berth should naturally start to ease off.

The Celtics prioritized their health above all else, which makes sense given that they have already guaranteed home court advantage for the duration of the postseason—at least in the Eastern Conference.

It’s understandable that some folks didn’t want to sound the sirens, but you never want to enter the postseason in a slump.

Losing patterns have a tendency of snowballing, and considering how often the Celtics have underperformed in the postseason, it’s not like they have the luxury or benefit of the doubt anymore.

Though they still need to prove it, the Celtics should be the overwhelming favorite to represent the East in the NBA Finals.
