According to rumours, Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to pay Bayern Munich’s asking price for Ryan Gravenberch in order to secure the midfielder.
After losing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita, and James Milner to free transfers, Klopp is aiming to add two or three midfielders this summer. The Reds have already signed Brighton’s Alexis MacAllister.
Liverpool is moving on to other targets after scoring a £35 million deal for Mac Allister, with Dutch international Gravenberch being strongly linked to a move to Anfield.
A recent report indicated that the Reds are ‘more advanced’ than Manchester United in the race to sign Gravenberch from Bayern Munich with Klopp apparently given the ‘green light’ to pursue a transfer.
Spanish publication Fichajes claimed on Wednesday that Liverpool are ‘about to close the €25m transfer’ of Gravenberch with the player ‘open’ to a move to Anfield.
But now Nacional insist that Klopp ‘orders’ Liverpool ‘to pay the €25m requested by Bayern Munich’ with the Dutchman no longer interested Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Gravenberch, who only made three Bundesliga starts for Bayern over the past season after joining from Ajax last summer, is ‘completely liked’ by Klopp despite having ‘lived through a real hell in his first year in Germany’.
The 21-year-old ‘does not want to continue in the Bundesliga for one more day’ and Bayern are ‘willing to transfer him’ as long as they receive €25m.
Klopp ‘intends to take advantage’ of Gravenberch’s situation at Bayern and the Liverpool boss is ‘convinced that he would fit perfectly’ into his ‘scheme’ at Anfield.
Liverpool ‘can pay what it would cost without any inconvenience’ and they can ‘guarantee’ him a ‘leading role’ in Klopp’s side, which is what he’s desperate for.
But Man Utd could yet hijack their attempts to sign Gravenberch after they had a third bid for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount rejected.
The Red Devils made an offer worth £55m for Mount but the Blues are reportedly holding out for £65m, despite the England international only having one year left on his contract.
And there are suggestions Man Utd could now decide to walk away from their attempts to sign Mount with Gravenberch emerged as a potential alternative target.
GiveMeSport claim that the Red Devils ‘have become very aware’ of Gravenberch’s unsettled future at Bayern and ‘Erik Ten Hag’s Ajax connection plays into this interest
