Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Chelsea still have some pretty big transfer plans this transfer window, despite spending 100s of millions on new players already.
Pochettino feels there are still some more players that he needs to come in to the squad, and perhaps yesterday’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham proved that. The Hammers went down to ten men and still managed to get the third goal to bury the game. Chelsea looked poor in attack and could not do anything to really threaten getting a goal.
And perhaps unsurprisingly, it is that area of the pitch that Pochettino wants to sign in during the final days of the transfer window this month.
After the game last night, Pochettino said that the club are in the process of trying to add some more players to the attacking area of the pitch after the latest long-term injury to new signing Christopher Nkunku.
In words cited by talkSPORT, Pochettino said: “It is a difficult situation because we had two strikers in Nkunku and Broja but they are injured. It is not easy in this moment to find the right profile. We are in the process, working to see if we can add some players in this area.
“But it is a job that is not easy for the club. For sure, they are working really hard to add some players. If it is not possible, we need to wait until Nkunku and Broja will be ready and we have the help of Mason [Burstow].
“I don’t think the problem is that we need another striker. The chances that we created, we need to be more clinical
