According to On3’s Joe Tipton, former Kansas and Alabama guard Rylan Griffen is scheduled to visit Kentucky next week.
The 6-foot-5 junior has re-entered the transfer portal after one season with the Jayhawks. Griffen originally played for Alabama, where he logged 73 appearances and made 33 starts between 2022 and 2024. During the 2024-25 season at Kansas, he started 20 games but took on a reduced role compared to his time with the Crimson Tide.
His playing time dipped from 26.3 to 20.2 minutes per game, and his scoring average dropped from 11.2 points to 6.3. Griffen also struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 33.6% from three after hitting 39.2% the year before. He had a tough time finding his rhythm, though he wasn’t alone—Kansas finished with 13 losses, their most in a season since 1982-83.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope has several roster spots to fill following his first year at the helm, and the Wildcats have been aggressive in the transfer portal. So far, they’ve added four transfers: Jaland Lowe (Pitt), Kam Williams (Tulane), Mouhamed Dioubate (Alabama), and Jayden Quaintance (Arizona State). Pope has also signed two highly touted freshmen—5-star combo guard Jasper Johnson and 5-star center Malachi Moreno.
With those additions, Kentucky currently holds the No. 3-ranked transfer class in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.
