Miami’s offseason rebuild got a major boost on Wednesday as freshman wing Marcus Allen, transferring from Missouri, officially committed to the Hurricanes through the NCAA transfer portal.
Allen, a 6-foot-6 guard from Norland High School in Miami, was a four-star prospect in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. During his lone season with the Tigers, he appeared in 26 games, averaging 9.2 minutes, 2.6 points, and 2.0 rebounds per contest.
His standout performance came on January 1, when he posted nine points, five rebounds, and three steals in 22 minutes during a loss to Auburn.
The news of his commitment to Miami for the 2025-26 season was first reported by Joe Tipton of On3Sports on X. The Hurricanes were among the first schools to recruit Allen out of high school, along with Missouri, Florida State, Indiana, and others.
Now, he returns to his hometown to play under new head coach Jai Lucas—a former McDonald’s All-American and assistant at Texas, Kentucky, and Duke. Lucas was most recently Jon Scheyer’s top assistant at Duke before taking the reins at Miami following the 2024-25 season.
After finishing last in the ACC with a disappointing 7-24 record (3-17 in conference play), Allen’s arrival gives Miami a needed lift. His presence adds depth on the wing and helps address the roster depletion that troubled the team last season.
