A former Duke Basketball player sees a sharp decline in rankings

A few weeks after decommitting from Duke, Shelton Henderson’s recruiting stock has taken a noticeable dip.

Back in early November, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound senior forward from Bellaire High School (Texas) committed to Duke and was ranked as a five-star prospect, sitting at No. 15 in the 2025 class according to 247Sports. He even climbed to No. 14 by February.

However, in mid-April, Henderson withdrew his commitment from Duke and quickly pledged to Miami, joining new Hurricanes head coach Jai Lucas—formerly one of Jon Scheyer’s key assistants at Duke who departed at the end of the regular season.

Since then, Henderson’s ranking has dropped significantly. In 247Sports’ final update for the 2025 class, he slid 11 spots to No. 25 overall, losing his five-star status and posting the largest drop of any previous top-30 recruit.

Meanwhile, Duke’s remaining 2025 commits all rank ahead of him: Cameron Boozer (No. 3), Nikolas Khamenia (No. 15), and Cayden Boozer (No. 23). Collectively, this group places Duke’s 2025 recruiting class at No. 3 nationally and No. 1 in the ACC.
