A £26 million Liverpool target’s agent has recently advised him to join Tottenham instead.

Micky van de Ven’s agent has admitted that Tottenham would be a good move for the Dutch defender despite reports linking the centre-back to Liverpool.

Speaking to WAZ, Jose Forte Rodriguez revealed that a move to north London could be a wise decision from the VfL Wolfsburg star this summer, with Tottenham in talks to sign the 22-year-old as Liverpool continue to keep tabs on Van de Ven.

Reportedly valued at £26m, Van de Ven looks Premier League-bound after a breakout year in the Bundesliga, and the agent has now tipped Tottenham to be an ideal destination for the Dutchman, with Rodriquez saying: “We have to talk to VfL [Wolfsburg] first. I think Tottenham would be a good move for Micky. But there is still no agreement.”

Whilst Tottenham are yet to reach an agreement with Wolfsburg for Van de Ven, time is now running out for Liverpool to make their first move for the centre-back, who could be a dream defensive signing for the Reds this summer.

Indeed, the Anfield side are looking in the market for a defender who can act as cover on the left. And given Van de Ven’s profile, the towering Wolfsburg talent could be the ideal addition, but only if the Reds make their move now to beat Tottenham to the youngster.

Signing a defender could prove more important for Liverpool this summer than overhauling their midfield, and with few left-sided options out there in the window, losing Van de Ven to a rival in Tottenham can’t be something the Reds allow to happen in the coming weeks.

As we now know, the player’s agent is hoping for a move to north London to go through. And with Liverpool standing still on Van de Ven, movement has to take place soon if the Reds are to stand with any chance of signing the Dutch youngster.
