The 2024–25 Duke basketball team etched its name into ACC history by becoming the only team ever to record 19 wins in conference play—and that record may stand forever.
Duke set the ACC benchmark with a 19-1 conference record, capped off by an 82-69 win over rival UNC. Now, less than two months later, a recent ACC scheduling decision suggests that mark won’t be touched anytime soon.

Starting in the 2025–26 season, each ACC team will play only 18 conference games, down from the previous total. As Duke’s official basketball account noted, this adjustment means teams will now have just two home-and-away series each year, with UNC remaining Duke’s permanent rival. The second team in that rotation is still to be determined.
This scheduling change also creates room for Duke head coach Jon Scheyer to add two more opponents to a now-expanded 13-game non-conference slate going forward.
