Former UNC basketball backcourt combo receive invitations to the G League Elite Camp.

The list of invitees for the 2025 NBA Draft Combine was released this week, and notably, two former UNC basketball stars were not among those selected. However, both players still have a shot at making it to the combine.

RJ Davis and Caleb Love have been selected to participate in the G League Elite Camp, scheduled for May 9–11 in Chicago.

This two-day event serves as a proving ground for NBA hopefuls, allowing them to perform in front of scouts, coaches, and executives from both the NBA and the G League. Participants will take part in five-on-five scrimmages as well as various strength and agility drills.

Top performers from the Elite Camp will be chosen to advance to the NBA Draft Combine later that same week.

Although Davis and Love would have preferred a direct invite to the NBA Combine, both are expected to make the most of this opportunity, using the Elite Camp as a platform to showcase their abilities and elevate their draft profiles.

The duo shared the UNC backcourt for three seasons and were instrumental in leading the Tar Heels to the 2022 national title game. Davis remained at North Carolina for all five years of his college career, while Love transferred to Arizona after his junior year and completed his final season there.

Both players thrived in their final collegiate seasons. Davis had a standout year, capturing ACC Player of the Year honors and earning Consensus First-Team All-American recognition. Love shined out west, winning Pac-12 Player of the Year and receiving All-American accolades as well.

Though some UNC fans still dwell on Love’s departure, both he and Davis deserve unwavering support as they chase their NBA goals. Each left a lasting legacy in Chapel Hill and now aims to do the same at the professional level.
