After sitting out his first week of action with his new team because of an ankle issue, Jaden Springer made his Celtics debut on Thursday night. In the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 129-112 victory over the Bulls, Springer played two minutes and missed his only 3-point attempt. Prior to the trade, he was recovering from a right ankle impingement that he sustained during his last game in Philadelphia.
About his recuperation process, Springer told reporters on Thursday, “Really just about getting my foot back right.” “Become at ease when playing and moving about the court. played a short while. That’s all there is to it. Everything seemed to be going well.
While the club struggled with serious injuries, Springer played a significant amount of minutes in Philadelphia; but, now that the team is healthy and settled on the wing, he will have to wait longer for meaningful opportunities in Boston. But the 21-year-old benefited from his previous experience playing defense against some of the best offensive players in the NBA, including Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic with the Sixers.
“Yeah, it was really cool to be able to play against those guys,” Springer remarked. “Having that matchup available to me. It was amazing to be able to come here. For me, all of that was fantastic news. I’m in good spirits.
After receiving a candid evaluation of his abilities from his previous general manager in Philadelphia, Daryl Morey, Springer will probably be even more motivated with his new team.
After the trade deadline, Morey stated, via Sam DiGiovanni, “We had to look at, what are the odds Jaden Springer — who I think has a great future — helps our playoff rotation in the one, two, or three-year horizon.” And what are our chances of benefiting from a second-round pick? In our opinion, the second-round selection was more beneficial to us. And that’s just the way things work; it lets us potentially acquire a veteran before the deadline for next year, for example.
We succeeded. It’s awful. I think Jaden is going to be pretty good. However, I believe his schedule is a little off. Our assessment was that the second-round pick could assist us more quickly than he could assist a playoff team.
In contrast, Brad Stevens and the Celtics have high expectations for the former first-round pick’s development both now and in the future.
Brad Stevens stated earlier this month, “We’ve tracked his development pretty closely over the years.” A few years ago, we liked him when he was selected. He is still a young dog. So we were thinking, “Whoah, that looks like a lot of progress.” The other thing that all of us crazy people watch is everything from the G-League. In the previous year’s G-League playoffs, he was amazing. He’s done more nice deeds against us while residing in Maine. Up there, we’ve seen him in person multiple times. We have been following this person for a while.
