Jurgen Klopp had plenty of praise for Darwin Nunez after the Uruguayan scored a fantastic goal in Liverpool’s win over Bournemouth. The boss didn’t like one question about it, though.
Darwin Nunez stepped off the bench on Wednesday evening to get Liverpool over the line against Bournemouth with a brilliant goal. This was an incredibly difficult game, as it turned out, with Storm Ciaran causing chaos for both teams.
Understandably, Jurgen Klopp loved what he saw.
“Darwin shows his class and puts the game pretty much to bed for us,” said Klopp in his post-match press conference. “It’s an unbelievable goal. There were much bigger chances in the whole game – five, six or seven – but that was the goal we needed.”
But one journalist suggested Darwin had ‘used the wind’ to make it happen – that was the last question of the press conference, in fact. Klopp didn’t take kindly to that suggestion, snapping back at the journalist a little.
“If you can do that, that’s really good!” he joked. “That would be outstanding. You’d have to ask him, I didn’t – I just enjoyed the goal.”
Whether he used the wind or not (he didn’t), Nunez produced another moment of absolute magic to send Liverpool into the quarter-finals of the EFL
