Al-Ittihad eye ‘special’ Tottenham star as Salah alternative

Al-Ittihad reportedly eyed Tottenham’s Richarlison as an alternative to Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah earlier this week.

According to the Telegraph, the Brazilian international was targeted by the Saudi Arabia side after it became clear that Mohamed Salah was not leaving Anfield.

Hailed as a ‘really special’ player by Peter Schmeichel, Al-Ittihad’s interest in Richarlison could hint that Salah might now be off the table for the Middle Eastern side heading into the future.

Yet given how high a profile the 31-year-old is, particularly in the Arab world, there’s a good chance that Al-Ittihad and other Saudi Arabian clubs will chase Salah, as well as Richarlison.

Indeed, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side switching attention, though, there could be a glimmer of hope that Salah could stay at Liverpool beyond 2024.

And with Richarlison now on Al-Ittihad’s radar, Liverpool will be hoping that Salah could remain in the Premier League if the striker was to move to Saudi Arabia.

Salah’s Liverpool future could now be linked to Richarlison

Richarlison is certainly an interesting alternative to Salah given the Tottenham man’s record in the Premier League last season after joining from Everton in a £60m deal.

Yet should the Brazilian head to Saudi Arabia, there’s a chance that Salah could now actually stay at Liverpool for an extra year or two.

The odds still remain low, of course, but with Al-Ittihad having another high-profile name on their radar, Liverpool could escape with losing Salah if Richarlison does head to the Middle East.
