Our sister site Caughtoffside have a great weekly exclusive interview with Fabrizio Romano, and even with the transfer window closed there’s tons of great stuff for us to enjoy, giving us insight on how some of the deals this summer came together.
Our only buy on deadline day itself was Cole Palmer. His name had barely come up even 3 days before it happened, but things moved fast and by the morning of the last day of the window he was already announced as a Blue.
Manchester City didn’t want to get go of their academy talent, nurtured since a young age, but they were left with little choice according to Romano:
“With Cole Palmer, Chelsea really insisted, were pushing for two days and the player was also keen on the move,” the transfer insider explained.
“So for City the best thing to do was to accept and make the most amount of money possible.”
Palmer’s talent isn’t in question. The £40m fee for a player with so little experience, is in question, as is the need for a player of his type given the lack of out and out striker options.
