Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly lining up a move for Liverpool talent Luke Chambers after signing Nathan Tella from Southampton.

According to journalist Christian Falk, the Bundesliga side are keen on the 19-year-old defender, with Chambers being wanted by Leverkusen for the majority of the summer transfer window.

And Xabi Alonso’s side now look ready to move for Chambers, with Leverkusen this weekend confirming the £20m signing of Tella from English side Southampton.

Having not played a single minute of professional football with Liverpool, a move to Germany could be a great move for Chambers’ development should the defender secure a loan move.

Moreover, under a Liverpool icon like Alonso, Chambers will have the perfect mentor to learn from, with the former Anfield maestro making waves as one of the best young coaches in Europe.

Having spent last season in Scotland, a move to Germany would be a significant step up for Chambers, especially to a club as big as Leverkusen.

However, given the nature of the Bundesliga and the immense success English players have had in the division in recent years, a move to Leverkusen could be a masterstroke for all parties.

Moreover, the prospect of playing under Alonso will be an enticing one for Chambers, who could see his development accelerate under the Basque coach this season.
