Revealed: Mason Mount agrees £200,000-a-week deal after Liverpool deal hijack

Mason Mount chose to sign with Man United over Liverpool, according to sources, and playing in the Champions League is a “big factor” in his decision.

If a complete agreement can be reached, a reliable source told Football Insider that Mount will make about £200,000 per week at Old Trafford.

The England international is set to depart Stamford Bridge this summer after a breakdown in contract negotiations.

His current contract is slated to end in June 2024, and it’s said Chelsea refused to give in to his demands for a raise to put him in the highest pay tier.

FBRef claims that Mount currently makes £80,000 per week.

The Blues are keen to hand their stars longer-term deals on smaller wages as they look to cut costs following a mammoth transfer spend in the 2022-23 campaign.

Although Mount has been linked to Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle, and Arsenal, Man United is now the team that is most likely to clinch a deal.

The 2022–23 season saw the star midfielder make 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals until an injury ended his season.

He also plays a regular role for England, earning 36 total caps for the Three Lions and four appearances at the World Cup in Qatar.

After attaining a third-place finish in the 2022–23 season, Man United will participate in Champions League football the following year.

Erik ten Hag, the manager of the Red Devils, has already declared his intention to bring in a second striker in the summer transfer window to lessen the team’s reliance on top scorer Marcus Rashford.
