Mauricio Pochettino’s side showed plenty of promise against Liverpool last weekend, though the Argentine now has several issues to weigh up when selecting his starting XI to face the Hammers. Newly-acquired shot-stopper Robert Sanchez is likely to start between the sticks against David Moyes’ side, with the Spaniard lacking any true competition for the No 1 spot as it stands. The 25-year-old made several mistakes on his Chelsea debut but a week back alongside coach Ben Roberts, who also left Brighton for Stamford Bridge, could do him the power of good.

The true mystery for Moyes heading into this match will be whether Pochettino returns to a back four, as used in pre-season, or continues with a 3-5-2. If the ex-Tottenham boss opts for the latter, it is hard to see him reshuffling his backline given that Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella are the two alternatives and Chelsea are hopeful of selling the duo
