Liverpool’s transfer activity is going to ramp up, according to Jurgen Klopp’s request.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to welcome several more players before the end of the summer transfer window.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that fans could be in for a busy end to the summer. The Reds are looking to bounce back from a hugely disappointing 2022/23 season, and although two new recruits are already bedding in at Anfield, several others are firmly in the crosshairs.

With no fewer than four first-team midfielders leaving as free agents, Klopp has been under significant pressure to bolster his options in the middle of the park during the summer window.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister set Liverpool back a combined £95million, but the boss is likely to demand more additions before the start of the campaign.

Klopp’s transfer mission is about to become urgent as he faces two more high-profile midfield departures, with Jordan Henderson on the verge of moving to the Saudi Pro League and Fabinho set to join him.

But the Liverpool manager’s message is clear, having pleaded with fans to trust him and his transfer team, who are putting plans in place for an ‘unforgettable’ campaign.

The last [few] years, nearly winning the quadruple but not doing it actually, and then having the season we had, that can create some doubt, I know that,” he told the club’s We Are Liverpool podcast.

Then people want to change – on one day they want to change the team in 12 positions and then the next day only one. And then we change and then it’s the wrong player, ‘No, no, not him’, and stuff like this. What I would like to ask for: trust us.

“We feel really responsible for what’s happening here and we will do absolutely everything to have a season, in the best possible understanding, we will never forget. That’s the plan.”

Liverpool have significant ground to make up after spluttering to a fifth-place Premier League finish last term. Klopp and co were a massive 22 points behind eventual champions Manchester City, leaving them short of Champions League qualification.

Among those linked to Anfield are Southampton teenager Romeo Lavia, Real Madrid ace Aurelien Tchouameni and Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure, who would all demand significant transfer fees.
