Senegal forward Sadio Mane endured a tough first season with Bayern Munich, prompting speculation over a summer move to the Saudi Pro League for the ex-Liverpool star.
Bayern Munich frontman Sadio Mane gave short shrift to a reporter, suggesting the media has been “killing” him since his move to Bavaria.
The Senegal star joined Bayern last summer after several years with Liverpool, making his final appearance for the Reds in the 2022 Champions League final. Things have been tougher for him at the Allianz Arena, though, prompting suggestions he could leave after just one year.
A move to the Saudi Pro League is among the reported possibilities for the 31-year-old. Mane’s camp has reportedly spoken to Al Nassr over a potential move, but he was in no mood to entertain questions from the media.
In a clip shared by an Abendzeitung reporter on social media, Mane can be seen posing for a photo with a fan. The forward is then approached by a journalist, prompting an altogether different reaction.
“You are killing me every day and now you want me to talk to you guys? No point,” Mane said before walking off.
Mane scored 12 goals in his first Bayern season as they struggled in Europe and only clinched the Bundesliga title on the final day of the campaign. The forward’s season was marred by a clash with team-mate Leroy Sane which earned him a fine and an internal ban, though he insists he has put the matter behind him.
This kind of things can happen. It happened,” Mane said of the Sane clash. “We were able to solve this small problem. Sometimes it’s good to solve problems, but maybe not in this way. It’s behind us now. We’ll try to fight together to help the club achieve its goals next season.”
Mane has been involved for Bayern in pre-season, scoring his team’s 27th and final goal in a demolition of Rottach-Egern. However, The Athletic reports that his representatives have been speaking to Al Nassr over a potential permanent switch
Bayern, who are due to face Premier League sides Manchester City and Liverpool in pre-season, have already made a number of additions to their squad. Kim Min-jae has arrived from Napoli, while Tuchel’s side have also picked up Konrad Laimer and Raphael Guerreiro from Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
They have also offered Harry Kane a four-year deal in an effort to lure the England captain to the Bundesliga. Kane is in the final year of his Tottenham contract, but the Premier League side have already rebuffed initial interest.
It’s not something where you go: ‘Ah, well, you know if it does or doesn’t happen.’,” Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said of the Kane saga. “I mean he’s a very important part of this football club, not just the team, but the football club. He’s such a massive figure
