Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is open to parting ways with the Anfield club this summer, according to SPORT.

The 32-year-old has one year left on his contract with the Merseyside club, prompting speculation regarding his long-term future.

Thiago proved a shrewd acquisition when he joined Jurgen Klopp’s side from Bayern Munich three years ago, but his recurring injury problems have plagued his Liverpool career.

The Spanish playmaker featured in just 28 of Liverpool’s 52 games last season, and his injury record has made the club reluctant to open talks over an extended contract

Liverpool have not received any offers for Thiago’s signature, and Klopp still holds the former Barcelona man in high esteem.

However, a summer departure remains a possibility, especially if Liverpool receives an attractive offer from Thiago’s many admirers across the globe.

Thiago has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, although reports suggest the midfielder has rejected an approach from clubs in the Middle East in favour of remaining at Anfield.

However, regular playing time is not something either Klopp or the player’s concerning injury history can guarantee, especially with the ongoing midfield revamp at the club.

Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig, while there are also talks of a hybrid midfield role for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott will be buzzing for the new campaign after helping England win the under-21 European tournament, while Stefan Bajcetic has also impressed when given the chance.

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia is among the players on Liverpool’s radar, with Klopp considering further reinforcements in the midfield department, which could put the final nail in Thiago’s Liverpool career.

Without assurances of regular playing time, Thiago is now more receptive to the possibility of leaving Liverpool this summer.

He has interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray and could re-open talks with the Saudis. But he reportedly prefers a return to La Liga in the event of a Liverpool departure
