“The best shooter I’ve ever seen”: Jaland Lowe predicts a huge season for a Kentucky player

If Trent Noah’s Practice Shooting Translates, a Breakout Year Could Be Coming

Jaland Lowe Raves About Trent Noah, Hints at Huge Sophomore Season for Kentucky’s Sharpshooter

All signs point to Jaland Lowe being a major headache for Kentucky’s opponents in 2025–26. The sophomore transfer from Pitt arrives with quickness, skill, and an aggressive style that should fit seamlessly into Mark Pope’s fast-paced offense. But as Lowe settles into Lexington, it’s one of his teammates who’s made the biggest impression.

“He’s the best shooter I’ve ever seen,” Lowe said about Kentucky sophomore Trent Noah. “I love TN.”

That’s high praise from someone who put up 16.8 points and 5.5 assists per game in the ACC last year. But if Lowe’s assessment proves accurate and Noah is primed to elevate his game, Kentucky fans might be witnessing the emergence of a major contributor.

Noah, a 6’6” guard from Harlan County, Kentucky, showed promise in his freshman season. He got off to a strong start before hitting the inevitable freshman wall—especially common for players coming from smaller high schools into the intense world of high-major college basketball. Scoring has always been in his DNA: as a senior in high school, he racked up 129 points across four Sweet 16 games, including a dazzling 48-point outing on 7-of-10 shooting from deep.

According to Lowe, that lethal jumper hasn’t gone anywhere.

With Pope’s system built to space the floor and generate open threes, players like Noah could see a major boost in opportunities. If Lowe thrives as a downhill playmaker—something Kentucky’s coaches fully expect—someone will need to be ready to capitalize on all those drive-and-kick chances.

Noah could be that guy.

Lowe himself is already drawing comparisons to Lamont Butler, who blossomed under Pope at BYU last season and set career highs nearly across the board. If Lowe has a similar impact, defenses will have no choice but to collapse on him, creating clean looks for shooters like Noah.

Though it’s still early, summer workouts are already generating buzz that Noah is scorching the nets behind closed doors. If Lowe’s endorsement is any indication, Big Blue Nation may soon see a local product stepping into the spotlight.

From small-town Eastern Kentucky to the national stage? We’ve seen that script before—and Trent Noah could be the next chapter.
