Mark Pope is compared to Coach Cal by Darius Miller.

Regarding the last three coaches in Lexington, the former Kentucky standout expressed his opinions.
Darius Miller is among my favourite of the many celebrities who have visited Lexington during my lifetime. As the sixth man, Miller was extremely reliable and helped bring the 2012 National Championship back to Lexington. The former Kentucky Wildcats star recently expressed his opinions about Mark Pope, John Calipari, and Billy Gillispie, the three former Lexington coaches. Kentucky Sports Radio asked Miller what he thought about Pope.

“Coach Pope is someone I adore. He is a basketball genius, in my opinion, and I adore the way he plays the game. It seems quite technical to me with Coach Pope. Since then, the game has undergone significant development; analytics and other components are now included. He approaches it as though it were a science, and I can tell. It’s all really deliberate,” Miller remarked.

After spending most of their collegiate career playing under Calipari’s system, it’s intriguing to hear their viewpoint and contrast it with Pope’s first year at Lexington. “Cal’s system allowed for a great deal of freedom, which allowed you to see some of the greatness of players like Jamal Murray, Eric Bledsoe, and John Wall, who were all able to express themselves on the court.” It’s all about the little things, Coach Pope, but it puts you in a fantastic position to show off your skills in a controlled setting. Do you understand what I mean? “Two different ways, but I would like to play for both of them,” Miller said.

It is certain that Pope has a bright future, but it is also enjoyable to reflect on the wonderful moments of the Calipari period. We appreciate Miller’s thoughtful observations regarding these two periods in Kentucky.
