As one of the front-runners for the Paris Saint-Germain position, Luis Enrique may once again have an impact on Tottenham’s managerial search.
WHAT OCCURED? Despite being on the verge of winning Ligue 1 for the 2022–23 campaign, it appears likely that Christophe Galtier, the team’s current manager, will be fired for failing to lead them to success in the French Cup and the Champions League. Enrique is one of the candidates leading the way on the Parisians’ shortlist of potential managerial successors, GOAL can exclusively reveal.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: The Spaniard is still unemployed after being fired by the RFEF following Spain’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup in the round of 16. He is reportedly one of the candidates being eyed to take over Tottenham after Arne Slot, the manager of Feyenoord, withdrew from consideration on Wednesday. The club led by Daniel Levy would suffer yet another setback if Enrique were to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 team.
Additionally, GOAL can confirm that Enrique’s team has so far refuted any communication with PSG. The 53-year-old coach has also been mentioned as the replacement for Lucian Spalletti at Napoli, who is expected to go after a rumored disagreement with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis. Therefore, if PSG wants to lure Enrique to the Parc des Princes for the upcoming campaign, they may need to move quickly.
