Emma Raducanu suffered a health scare during her 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2 loss to Jessica Pegula at the Miami Open. The Brit had already beaten four Americans, including eighth seed Emma Navarro, during her run to the quarter-finals. However, Raducanu needed courtside treatment from the doctor and had her vitals checked during the second set.
The lengthy clash between Raducanu and Pegula, which was fourth on the main court in Florida, meant that Novak Djokovic’s tie with Sebastian Korda was cancelled. The Serb was scheduled fifth on centre court but ATP rules prevent matches from starting past 11pm local time. It means the 24-time Grand Slam champion will have to return today.

Henman: “There is no doubt Raducanu will take so many positives from this run in Miami.
“When you see Raducanu playing at this level, the tennis has always been there. For me the movement in and out of the corners when she has been on defence, it’s been so impressive.
“The way she has strung together these match wins it is going to give her so much confidence.
“She has got to keep doing the work on the track and in the gym, these match wins will continue.”
