Is Duke basketball on the verge of landing a commitment from Dame Sarr? All signs suggest that Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils are in a strong position to secure the five-star shooting guard, especially as Kansas appears to be shifting its focus elsewhere.
On Friday, Kansas picked up a commitment from 2025 three-star shooting guard Corbin Allen, a Missouri native. While that’s a solid addition for Bill Self’s squad, it also signals that the Jayhawks may be conceding in the race for Sarr. With Kansas potentially moving on, and several crystal ball predictions favoring Duke, momentum is clearly swinging in Scheyer’s favor.
Sarr, a standout from Italy who has spent the past three years developing with FC Barcelona, had previously been linked closely to Kansas. However, Duke has made a hard push in recent months, especially with their need for a high-impact guard growing after Cedric Coward shifted his focus toward the NBA Draft.
Scheyer has prioritized Sarr, showcasing what Duke can offer both on and off the court. The result: Duke is now seen as the frontrunner, and fans are anxiously anticipating what could be a huge addition. If Sarr does commit as many expect he’s projected to step into a key role right away, potentially as a starter and primary playmaker.
Unless there’s a late twist, Sarr’s future seems to be pointing toward Durham, with an official decision likely coming soon.
