NBC adds another legendary former UNC basketball player to its upcoming broadcast team.

NBC Brings More Tar Heel Greatness to NBA Coverage: Vince Carter Joins Michael Jordan on Star-Studded Broadcast Team

UNC basketball fans are in for a major treat this fall, as NBC continues to assemble a high-profile team for its much-anticipated return to NBA broadcasting. Already making waves with the announcement that Michael Jordan will participate as a special analyst, NBC has now brought another legendary Tar Heel into the fold—Vince Carter.

The high-flying Hall of Famer, affectionately known as “Vinsanity,” is officially joining NBC Sports as a studio analyst. Carter, who starred at North Carolina before launching a 22-year NBA career filled with highlight-reel dunks and clutch performances, is now turning his attention to broadcasting. NBC announced that Carter will be part of the studio team starting in October and will appear at least one night each week, offering his perspective on the league’s biggest storylines as the season unfolds and intensifies into the playoffs.

Carter, already a seasoned analyst from his time with ESPN, brings a unique blend of on-court experience, charismatic personality, and deep basketball knowledge to NBC’s studio lineup. His addition to the team not only strengthens NBC’s coverage but also continues the network’s commitment to spotlighting basketball legends with strong ties to the game’s history.

With two of the most iconic UNC alumni—Michael Jordan and Vince Carter—now part of the broadcast team, NBC is clearly leaning into basketball royalty as it reintroduces itself to NBA fans. Whether you’re a lifelong Tar Heel supporter or a casual viewer, the presence of these legends promises must-watch television every week.

UNC Basketball Adds Impact Big Man as Arizona Transfer Henri Veesaar Commits to Tar Heels

North Carolina has secured a major frontcourt addition.

On Friday, 7-foot Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar announced his commitment to UNC, delivering the size and interior presence the Tar Heels have been targeting this offseason. The Estonian native, who has two years of eligibility remaining, is expected to be a key piece of Hubert Davis’s 2025–26 squad.

Veesaar entered the transfer portal on March 31, and UNC wasted no time. The staff prioritized him early, bringing him to campus ahead of the NCAA’s recruiting dead period — a clear indicator that he was a top target. Their persistence paid off.

Though Veesaar wasn’t a regular starter at Arizona, he made significant strides in his sophomore campaign, averaging 9.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. His skill set stands out: he’s a versatile big who can stretch the floor (32.7% from three) and thrive in the pick-and-roll, giving UNC a modern stretch-five option it hasn’t consistently had in recent years.

With limited frontcourt depth heading into the offseason, UNC needed a mobile, skilled, and reliable post player — and Veesaar checks all the boxes. Among the top big men in the portal, he was clearly a priority for the Tar Heels, and now he’s headed to Chapel Hill.

This is a big win for Coach Davis and his staff, addressing a crucial need with a high-upside, two-way contributor. There’s still more roster work to do — particularly in the backcourt — but landing Veesaar gives the program serious momentum heading into the summer.
