“Having the opportunity to battle the best guys will be a little easier.” – Marc Márquez
Marc Márquez finished third on the grid for the MotoGP GP of the Americas, showcasing his proficiency with the Circuit of the Americas once more. He was the best Ducati rider, better than Francesco Bagnaia, the two-time Ducati champion.
“Of course the qualifying practice is one of the most important moments of the weekend, and starting on the front row it will be a bit easier to have the chance to fight with the top guys,” the Gresini rider said in the brief interview that aired on the official broadcast.
Following the qualifying session, Márquez said, “Yesterday was hard,” but he had made progress since then. I’m a little bit closer now. A few things that I did in the second practice are still unclear to us, so let’s see if they improve the race speed. But right now, I feel like I’m getting better and better; this is what matters most. I made progress over the weekend.
The six-time world champion in the premier class trailed only two riders during qualifying: Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) and Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), who won pole position.
