TNT Sports analyst Sylvain Guintoli said that Francesco Bagnaia’s victory in the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday was the “best race he has ever done”. The quadruple world champion prevailed in a dramatic race against Marc Marquez in Jerez, where both riders’ aggressive racing produced an exciting show. Guintoli remarked, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pecco ride that well.”

According to TNT Sports analyst Sylvain Guintoli, MotoGP world champion Francesco Bagnaia won “the best race he has ever done” to defeat Marc Marquez in an electrifying race at the Spanish Grand Prix.
With an incredible start, Bagnaia surged from the third row to the front of the pack, taking advantage of a mistake made by race leader Jorge Martin, who retired on lap 11.

However, six-time MotoGP champion Marquez reduced the deficit as they battled for the lead in the race, almost crashing with five laps remaining. This set up a spectacular finish.

In the aftermath of the thrilling bout between two of the sport’s biggest stars, Guintoli told TNT Sports that Bagnaia, the 2022 and 2023 champion, needed to put on his best performance to win in Jerez.
Guintoli remarked, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pecco ride that well, and he’s done some good races in the past.”
“This was the best race he has ever done, in my opinion,”

With this victory, Bagnaia moved up to second place on 75 points in the 2024 championship standings, closing the gap on leader Martin (Prima Pramac), the rider for Ducati Lenovo.
After two dismal seasons, Marquez returned to the top ranks and now sits sixth in the standings with 60 points. In the off-season, he switched teams to Gresini Racing from Honda.
Furthermore, Guintoli claimed that the 31-year-old’s performance in Jerez, his home track, beyond any MotoGP fan’s expectations.

What a struggle. We were aware that battle would occur this year, but it was truly unbelievable,” he remarked.
“Because Marc was more powerful in Turns 7 and 8, he was able to position Pecco there. However, Pecco was unfazed, making a comeback in Turn 9 and forcing Marc aside in Turn 10, protecting his position.
When you consider the lap times they were achieving, that racing was simply amazing. Every lap they were at record speed.
The season’s fifth Grand Prix, which takes place at Le Mans, France, on May 12, will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
