Marc Marquez’s comments following the evaluation of an intriguing new component at the Jerez test
After finishing the main components of his Ducati adaptation, Marc Marquez focused on finer points and customized the GP23’s setup for Monday’s MotoGP test in Jerez.
Among other things, factory team manager Davide Tardozzi suggested testing out the thumb brake on the left handlebar, calling it “important for riding the Ducati.”

However, the confidence was present from the very first run today. When I noticed that the lap time was already good, I maintained the pace and made sure my comments were accurate. I experienced every trial we made on the bike, and this is crucial for the future.
Since I was still having trouble getting used to the bike in the earlier stage, I was very astute about what I needed when we tried new things. Even if we go slowly, we always pick up a few new skills.
I’m starting to find a compromise and adjust the bike to my riding style. But I am aware that there will be some racetracks where I will struggle more than others, and there will also be some where we have a lot of promise.
Marquez finished the test with the fifth-best time, trailing only 0.232 seconds behind VR46’s Fabio di Giannantonio’s fastest lap.
