Over the next three days in Chicago, four Kentucky Wildcats will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of NBA scouts during the 2025 NBA G League Elite Camp, which runs from May 9 through May 11. This pre-draft event serves as a proving ground for prospects hoping to earn a late invitation to the NBA Draft Combine, which follows from May 11 to 18 in the same city.
Three former Kentucky players—Andrew Carr, Amari Williams, and Lamont Butler—are set to participate in a series of five-on-five scrimmages as well as strength and agility drills during the camp. They’ll be joined by Jaland Lowe, a recent transfer to Kentucky from Pitt, who will also be looking to make an impression on league decision-makers. While Lowe hasn’t played a game for the Wildcats yet, he’s already part of the Kentucky basketball future, expected to take over point guard duties in the 2025–26 season.
Ahead of the camp’s opening day on Friday, the rosters for the event were released, revealing that Carr and Williams—teammates during the 2024–25 season at Kentucky—will once again share the court, both assigned to Team 4. Meanwhile, Lowe will play for Team 1 and Butler for Team 3, placing all four Wildcats on different squads, except for Carr and Williams.
The G League Elite Camp serves as a critical opportunity for fringe draft prospects to raise their stock. Strong performances can lead to invitations to the NBA Draft Combine, where players are evaluated more closely by scouts, coaches, and front office personnel. All four Wildcats will be competing with that goal in mind.
Among the group, Amari Williams currently has the strongest NBA outlook, with his name appearing in some projections as a potential late second-round pick. Carr and Butler have gained attention on prospect big boards, but neither is currently featured in mainstream mock drafts. Lowe, still early in his college career with two years of eligibility remaining, is not yet mentioned in any draft forecasts.
In addition to the four players participating in the G League Elite Camp, two other Wildcats—Otega Oweh and Koby Brea—have already received invitations to the full NBA Draft Combine. Oweh, an All-SEC guard, recently completed a workout with the Portland Trail Blazers and addressed his NBA decision in a media session. While he stated he is “all in” on turning pro, he also noted that a return to Kentucky for his senior year remains a possibility. Brea, on the other hand, appears more likely to be selected on draft night, as he’s projected by many to go in the mid-to-late second round.
While it hasn’t been confirmed whether the G League Elite Camp will be publicly livestreamed, the league did broadcast last year’s event on its official YouTube channel, raising hopes that fans and scouts alike will have online access to this year’s action.
