The Philadelphia 76ers will play their final game of the season on Tuesday night against the Boston Celtics in an attempt to recover from a difficult Sunday afternoon loss. With their entire roster, the Milwaukee Bucks led by Doc Rivers lost despite a 54-point effort by All-Stars Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Although Philadelphia lost, the game was still tight because Tyrese Maxey scored 24 points on 42 percent shooting and dished out seven assists, scorching the Bucks defense.
Not to belittle his efforts on the defensive glass, where he recorded two thefts, 25-year-old De’Anthony Melton was also quite the offensive weapon for Nick Nurse, scoring 16 points off the bench. KJ Martin was one player that was absent from Sunday’s game because of an impingement in his right ankle. He was categorized as questionable until tip-off. Martin’s right ankle problem is still listed as “questionable” on the Sixers’ injury report, which suggests he might miss another game.
Martin has contributed three rebounds per game on average for the Sixers since the beginning of the year, averaging five points. Nurse decided to start Kelly Oubre Jr. and the previously mentioned Melton in Martin’s place on Sunday afternoon to cover the wing off the bench. Tuesday night’s game between the Sixers and the Celtics is slated to go off at 7:30 p.m. EST.
