Reported Liverpool target Evan Ndicka is set to leave Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer.
Ndicka has been linked with a move to Anfield in the months leading up to the end of the season. However, there still appeared a small hope that the Frenchman would extend terms with Eintracht beyond this summer.
But now, as confirmed by a statement on Frankfurt’s official website, Ndicka will see out his current deal and leave for nothing.
We would have liked to see Evan at Eintracht Frankfurt in the future, so it’s a shame that he’s leaving us,” says sporting director Markus Krosche
At the same time, we would like to thank Evan for five years together, in which he performed as a regular player at a young age. He has played his part in the sporting success and positive development of Eintracht Frankfurt. We wish him all the best for the future
Ndicka has seemingly wasted no time sorting out his next move following his departure from Eintracht.
As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano today, the 23-year-old is already in talks with Roma. With a contract offer already on the table, the Italians have stolen a march on the competition
And competition there likely will be. As a top young defender with years ahead of him, Ndicka will be very attractive to a number of clubs this summer.
Liverpool could be one of them, as they look to address adding a little more stability to their defence.
But with the Reds focused on midfield additions for the time being, they’re in danger of getting a little left behind here.
Not that that will bother them that much. With respect to Roma, you’d imagine Liverpool would be able to at least match them in terms of wages, and probably outdo them where a sporting project is concerned. If they wanted to, they’d be able to swoop in effectively.
If they do not, it’s likely that the Reds have other targets in mind instead. They certainly won’t be as cost effective as Ndicka would be, but they’ll make sure they find value regardless
